The Swytch Kit can convert almost every bike, with 13 wheel sizes to pick from. If you don’t see your wheel size you can select our
hub-only option and get a wheel built up at your nearest Swytch partner store.

MAX Kits come in all front wheel sizes. GO Kits are compatible with 26″ to 29″ wheels. MAX+, MAX++ have the option of rear wheels.

We custom-build each motor wheel at our wheel building facility in Norwich, UK. This allows us to offer ANY wheel size, made to order to match your bike.

Measurement method 1 Size markings

If your bike tyre has any of the following numbers on it (anywhere on the tyre), then it’s a 28” wheel: 622, 700c, 28, 29er.

Measurement method 2 Ruler

Measure the diameter of the wheel from edge to edge of the metal rim. If the measurement is 711.2mm then it is a 28” wheel.

Measure the diameter of the wheel from edge to edge of the metal rim. If the measurement is 698.5mm then it is a 27.5” wheel.

Measure the diameter of the wheel from edge to edge of the metal rim. If the measurement is 685.8mm then it is a 27” wheel.

Measure the diameter of the wheel from edge to edge of the metal rim. If the measurement is 660.4mm then it is a 26” wheel.

You can identify what axle size you need by measuring the gap with a ruler. Note if you have a folding bike, the narrow motor wheels all come with an 8mm axle size.

What’s the riding experience like with the rear wheel?

Riding with a rear-wheel motor feels more natural than with a front-wheel motor, as the rear motor pushes you forward, similar to pedaling, while a front motor pulls you along.

What tools do I need to fit the rear motor wheel?

To fit a rear wheel, you’ll need a few tools. If you’re installing a solid axle rear wheel motor, an adjustable spanner is required. For a thru-axle, you’ll only need the tool you typically use to remove the axle, depending on your bike. You’ll also need a set of Allen keys or Torx drivers to replace the disc rotor, along with a cassette tool and chain whip to remove and replace the cassette. All of which you can find in our tool kit, available on our order portal when you make a pre-order or in our online shop.

Is riding with a rear motor wheel more powerful?

Riding with a rear-wheel motor doesn’t offer more power compared to a front-wheel motor, as both are capped at 250W and 40Nm, which limits the overall power and speed.

What motor wheel options are available for MAX+?

28″/700C/29er, 27.5″, and 26″ sizes are available, with options for both standard fitting and thru axle configurations. Please note this is only available for MAX+ kits.

Which tyres are not compatible?

The Swytch motor wheel is designed to accommodate tire widths ranging from 1.1 to 2.5 inches (28 to 64 mm) only, which excludes fat tyres and very narrow road tires. Please purchase a tyre that is compatible for the Swytch motor wheel.

Is there any drag from the motor wheel?

The Swytch Kit features an advanced brushless geared motor with virtually zero drag when the power is off. This means that if you remove the power pack or turn it off, the bike operates just like a regular, non-electric bike, providing a smooth and efficient ride with virtually zero added resistance.

How will I pick my wheel size?

What is the motor power output of the Swytch Kit?

Our motor wheel has a rated power of 250W and a maximum torque of 40 Nm.

Can I use the Swytch Kit on a bike with disc brakes?

The Swytch Kit is 100% compatible with disc brakes, including both hydraulic and cable systems. All standard Swytch motors feature 6 screws on the outer part, allowing you to securely fit your existing disc brake to the motor.
