What do our customers think?
very easy to install and if you got a problem, the helpcenter is helpfull. All good the only remark the UPS delivery is not great (i lost my package and had to search for it myself)

My wife loves this as she spins past me which she has not done in the last 25 years ,if everything stays aligned it makes her BIKE FLY ALONG
I ordered and fitted the Swytch kit to my 2018 Giant Fathom MTB to use to commute to work. The MAX battery is only good for 10 - 15 km, around the hills in town. I can extend the range to 20km if I turn off the power on the downhills and flat terrain.
Overall, I'm happy the way it works for short commutes.

Converting our Bromptons has allowed us to get out more and go greater distances
the only thing i wish i had done was also get the hand controls as it would make it a little easier for my wife who is now in her seventies.

I just Love it 🙂

The product works, as advertised. Is well made and sturdy. I had a couple of of problems which you cleared up.

Super easy installation and so far, working flawlessly !! Price seemed reasonable for the value you received, had an order issue and they took care of it promptly.

Relatively Light weight & portable solution to lugging heavier loads up hills … & economical too! Power surges can be a bit erratic when battery starts to run low but longer journeys possible with a bit of planning ( & a spare battery)
👍

I have been using the Swytch Max Kit 16" for my daily commute and occasional trips. It's a great kit that is easy to use, smart and reliable. However, during the kit set-up, I faced the issue of a broken pedal sensor cable. Despite that, I love the Swytch Max Kit.
During the kit set-up, I faced the issue of a broken pedal sensor cable. The Swytch Support team sent me the replacement items for free, which was great. However, the support process was slow and it took a long time for them to respond to my queries. Even after receiving an automated response with a ticket number, I had to wait for days, sometimes even weeks, to get a response from them.
Many people have complained about the slow response time in the reviews, and I believe the company needs to improve its customer support procedures and responsiveness.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Swytch Kit, but you need to be patient with their support team.

I am still getting used to the kit. It looks great. I can now go easily uphill even after 20 km ride!👍

installed the kit on my Brompton last May and very happy after 200 km. I use it for distances of 4-5 km, very efficient. Lots of fun. Perhaps the battery could be improved for longer distances.

Frequently Asked Questions
Got a question?
Category
What happened to the AIR Power Pack option?
As of April 2025, AIR Power Packs are no longer available on our website. However, they remain in stock at over 100 bike shop retailers across the country.
What’s the riding experience like with the rear wheel?
Riding with a rear-wheel motor feels more natural than with a front-wheel motor, as the rear motor pushes you forward, similar to pedaling, while a front motor pulls you along.
What tools do I need to fit the rear motor wheel?
To fit a rear wheel, you’ll need a few tools. If you’re installing a solid axle rear wheel motor, an adjustable spanner is required. For a thru-axle, you’ll only need the tool you typically use to remove the axle, depending on your bike. You’ll also need a set of Allen keys or Torx drivers to replace the disc rotor, along with a cassette tool and chain whip to remove and replace the cassette. All of which you can find in our tool kit, available on our order portal when you make a pre-order or in our online shop.
Is riding with a rear motor wheel more powerful?
Riding with a rear-wheel motor doesn’t offer more power compared to a front-wheel motor, as both are capped at 250W and 40Nm, which limits the overall power and speed.
How long does installation take?
Installation time depends on your Power Pack option and your personal skills, but it usually takes between 25 to 45 minutes. The GO is much simpler to install, thanks to its all-in-one battery design with velcro connections. If you’ve ever changed a tire, that’s the toughest and most time-consuming part—everything else is pretty straightforward. Our detailed manuals and installation videos also have excellent reviews from customers. And if you run into any issues, our dedicated customer support team is always ready to help!
What tools do I need to install the kit?
You’ll need to use the following tools to install your Kit: Bike Pump, Adjustable Spanner, Ruler, Scissors, Allen Key Set and Tyre Levers. Please note these are not included with your kit.
Can I upgrade my GO Kit to a MAX+ Kit?
Yes, since both kits use the same motor wheel, you can purchase a MAX+ Upgrade Kit through our pre-order launch (join the waitlist to receive an invitation). The Upgrade Kit includes the MAX+ Power Pack, mount, and charging adapter, so you can keep your existing motor wheel and pedal sensor.
Can I upgrade from the AIR/MAX Kit?
Yes, the MAX+ Power Pack Kits use the same mounts and firmware as the AIR/MAX Kits, so you can easily upgrade by pre-ordering an additional MAX+ Power Pack, also known as the upgrade kit. Sign up to our waitlist to be invited to our next pre-order launch.
Can I change the brightness of the be-seen front light?
Yes, the multifunctional button on top of the Power Pack allows you to adjust the brightness level, whether you’re riding on a dimly lit country road or through the city. There’s a setting to suit any environment.
Can I turn the be-seen front light on/off?
Yes, the front be-seen light on the MAX+ can be easily and quickly turned off using a button on top of the Power Pack.
If my rear wheel is a freewheel do I need to replace the gears?
If your bike’s rear wheel has freewheel gears, those gears won’t be compatible with the Swytch rear motor wheel cassette. You will need to purchase additional cassette gears in your preferred ratio, but this may still lead to issues like gear skipping. Therefore, if your bike’s rear wheel has freewheel gears we recommend picking a front motor wheel instead for ease of installation.
The easiest way to determine if your bike’s rear wheel has a freewheel is to push the bike backwards. If the pedals rotate backwards, you have a cassette rear wheel. If the pedals stay still, you have a freewheel.
Learn more here!
Do the rear motor wheel options come with gears?
Our rear motor wheel options do not include gears, so you’ll need to transfer the gears from your original bike using the appropriate tools and following our provided instructions.
What motor wheel options are available for MAX+?
28″/700C/29er, 27.5″, and 26″ sizes are available, with options for both standard fitting and thru axle configurations. Please note this is only available for MAX+ kits.
Which tyres are not compatible?
The Swytch motor wheel is designed to accommodate tire widths ranging from 1.1 to 2.5 inches (28 to 64 mm) only, which excludes fat tyres and very narrow road tires. Please purchase a tyre that is compatible for the Swytch motor wheel.
Do I need to join the waitlist to order?
Joining the waitlist gives you access to purchase the Swytch Kit at a discounted price, with a longer lead time (you’ll be pre-ordering from a future production batch). You can also get a Kit now by ordering directly from us via our Kit Configurator. We also have a global network of Swytch Partners where you can buy now from a store.
How do I join the waitlist?
You can join our waitlist by pressing the yellow sign up button at the top of the page. By signing up, you’ll be the first to hear about our latest offers, new product launches, and much more!
How long does the pre-order process take?
When you place your initial order, we only require a small deposit to secure your price and delivery date. Following that, you will have approximately 1-2 weeks to complete your order details in our Order Portal. This includes confirming the specific wheel size and any other custom requirements. This process provides ample time to ensure all details are accurately finalised.
Does the Swytch GO Kit work better in cold temperatures?
You will be fine to use your Swytch bike on the occasional Winter day but we recommend not to frequently ride it in below -5 degrees C. Our Quality Control Testing did include performance tests at low temperatures. However, all lithium-ion batteries are impacted by temperature. You may have experienced this phenomenon if you’ve left a mobile phone or laptop in a car at night and found it totally drained the next morning. This is due to a chemical reaction caused by the cold resulting in faster discharge and/or a corresponding loss of battery life.
Extremities in weather conditions may affect the Power Pack. The kit should not be charged if it is below 0 degrees C and we recommend you do not store the Power Pack below -10 degrees C.
Is the Swytch GO Kit compatible with Thru-axles forks?
Unfortunately, the Swytch GO is not compatible with thru-axle forks. However, the good news is that our MAX+ range is fully compatible with thru-axle bikes, offering a perfect solution for those looking for this compatibility.
What is included in the box when I purchase the Swytch Kit?
When you purchase the Swytch GO Kit, you receive everything you need to convert your bike to electric. This includes the wheel, power pack, pedal sensor (PAS – Pedal Assist System), charger and all necessary cables.
Can the Swytch GO Kit handle steep inclines or hilly terrain?
All of our kits have been tested to handle hills with gradients of up to 32%, which is equivalent to the steepest roads in the UK and other countries. This ensures that Swytch can provide reliable performance, even on challenging terrains.
How does the installation of the Swytch GO Kit differ from other kits?
With the Swytch GO, you install the wheel and pedal sensor just like any other kit. However, the Swytch GO features a mountless design, offering greater flexibility in where you can install the power pack. You simply attach the power pack using the Velcro straps—it’s that easy! Or opt in for our Quick Lock Mount upgrade which allows you to lock your GO power pack to your bike.
What is the motor power output of the Swytch GO Kit?
Our standard motor wheel has a rated power of 250W and a maximum torque of 40 Nm which is the same for all Kit types.
Does the Swytch GO Kit work with bikes that have disc brakes or internal hub gears?
The Swytch GO is compatible with disc brakes, including both hydraulic and cable systems. All standard Swytch motors feature 6 screws on the outer part, allowing you to securely fit your existing disc brake to the motor.
Is the Swytch GO Kit compatible with all bike types, including mountain or road bikes?
The Swytch GO is compatible with universal-type bikes and supports wheel sizes from 26 inches and up.
What makes the Swytch GO Kit different from other Swytch products?
The Swytch GO is our mountless design, offering greater flexibility in where you can install the power pack.
Do you offer maintenance services of the Kit?
Swytch do not offer maintenance services; however, with the Swytch Kit, you receive lifetime support from our trained technicians, so you can be confident that assistance is always available if anything goes wrong. To ensure its longevity, we recommend following the guidelines provided in the manual. This includes charging the power pack as instructed, storing it in a cool, room-temperature environment, and avoiding direct sunlight. Visit one of our many partner stores who will be happy to help you with any issues or maintenance requirements.
What happens after I join the waitlist?
Once you join our waitlist, you will be invited to place your pre-order at the discounted price. After placing your order, you will have approximately 1-2 weeks to complete it in our Order Portal, including confirming your preferred wheel size and any other specifications. This gives you plenty of time to finalize the details of your order and ensure everything is set up according to your needs.
Is there any drag from the motor wheel?
The Swytch Kit features an advanced brushless geared motor with virtually zero drag when the power is off. This means that if you remove the power pack or turn it off, the bike operates just like a regular, non-electric bike, providing a smooth and efficient ride with virtually zero added resistance.
Is it road legal?
Yes, the Swytch Kit is 100% road legal in most regions, as it complies with local laws and regulations for e-bikes.
How will I pick my wheel size?
We have detailed articles available to help you determine the correct wheel size for your bike on our help centre.
Can the Swytch Kit handle steep inclines or hilly terrain?

What happens if I run out of battery during a ride?
If you run out of battery during your ride, there’s no need to worry. The system will automatically turn off, and you can continue using the bike as a regular bike. Alternatively, you can carry a spare battery in your backpack to extend your range and swap the batteries when needed.
Does the Swytch Kit include a display or screen for speed and battery tracking?
The Swytch Kit does not come with the display included, but you can add it as an optional accessory through the order portal. The display allows you to select from 5 power levels while cycling and is easily installed on your handlebars.

Does the Swytch Kit require any software or app to function?

To ensure its longevity, we recommend following the maintenance guidelines provided in the manual.
How long does it take to fully charge the battery?
Depending on the selected power pack capacity and the charger used, the charging time can vary from 2.5 hours to 5 hours.
Does the Swytch Kit include a throttle option?
Yes, we offer two types of throttles as optional accessories: a Thumb Throttle and a Twist Throttle. These throttles are compatible with all versions of the Swytch Kit and can be easily added or removed based on your preference.
How does the pedal assist system work, and how many levels are there?
The sensors in the Swytch Kit operate using magnets. The magnets on the PAS (Pedal Assist Sensor) ring enable the kit to detect your pedaling cadence. By “cadence,” we mean that the system delivers power when you pedal and stops when you stop pedaling.
The power level can be manually selected on the display, offering five different levels of assistance to suit your needs. If you opt not to include the display when placing your order, the kit comes with a small dongle adapter instead. This adapter allows you to use the kit without the display, with the power level automatically set to assistance level 3.
Can the Swytch Kit be easily removed or switched to another bike?
Yes! You can easily transfer and install the Swytch Kit onto another bike, provided the wheel size is the same. If the new bike requires a different wheel type, please contact our customer service team, and they will be happy to assist you
How does the Swytch Kit impact the handling of my bike?
The Swytch Kit does not negatively impact the handling of the bike. In fact, it helps by providing additional assistance through the front wheel, which pulls you forward as you pedal.
Is the kit waterproof or weather-resistant?
Our Kits are designed to withstand various weather conditions and are rated IP6, meaning it can be used in heavy rain without any issues. However, if the exterior of the power pack sustains cracks or damage, or if the kit is submerged in water for an extended period, it may compromise the waterproofing.
If you encounter any damage to the kit, please reach out to our team with a photo of the damage and an explanation of what occurred, and we’ll assist you accordingly.
What is the warranty period for the Swytch Kit?
