Frequently Asked Questions

What else should you need to know?

What bikes are compatible?

We offer Swytch kits for regular and folding bikes with 13 wheel sizes. If we don’t have your size, or you want to keep your custom wheel, we also have a hub-only option. The Universal Swytch Kit works with both rim and disc brakes (mechanical or hydraulic). Our standard wheel has a 10mm axle, but we also stock 9mm and 10mm options. For a 9mm fork, you can file down the 10mm axle by 0.5mm on each side. Swytch kits fit any bike with rim or disc brakes, quick-release fork drop-outs, and space for the Power Pack and Pedal Sensor, including trikes, recumbents, cargo bikes, and tandems!

Our motor wheel can’t be installed on bikes with thru-axles just yet, but we’re introducing a rear wheel thru-axle option with our latest innovations. Swytch rims have a standard internal width of 20mm and external width of 24mm, fitting tires from 1.1-2.5 inches (28-64mm). They don’t work with Fat Tyres or very narrow road tires. If your bike has hub, roller, or coaster brakes, you may be able to switch to disc or rim brakes to use the Swytch kit. Our folding kit doesn’t support disc brakes. Some carbon road bikes with wider bottom brackets and certain mountain bikes with suspension chainstays may not have enough space for the Pedal Sensor (requires 40mm clearance).

Why isn’t a customer getting Swytch’s emails?

Sometimes Swytch emails get marked as spam or promotional. As a first step, check that your customer has looked in their spam / promo folders for our emails. Then if they still don’t have our emails, let us know by getting in touch here.

A customer of mine has a problem, what do I do?

For all of these types of queries, we are absolutely on hand to help. Just get in touch with us here and we will call or email you to sort it out.

Does the Swytch kit have a warranty? Who is responsible for the warranty?

Every Swytch kit comes with a one year warranty and Swytch is 100% responsible for fulfilling the warranty. Customers must keep proof of purchase (eg their receipt) to make a valid warranty claim, so please just tell customers to keep a photo of their receipt after purchase. Our warranty terms and conditions are here. If you have a customer who comes in and needs something replacing under warranty (or doesn’t know if they’re still in warranty), please get in touch with us here and we will help you ASAP.

Your website says you are out of stock. When will you get stock? What are your delivery times?

  • Swytch kits are made to order to match a bike’s specifications and that’s why we have an online pre-order model. We’re always releasing new pre-order slots, so customers who have signed up to our waitlist have the opportunity to pre-order frequently. We also have a special reserve of stock held back for bike shops to sell in the UK. So far, online demand for Swytch kits has been greater than the supply we have at any one time. That’s why we can’t fulfil all our online demand with immediate dispatch, and our delivery times range from 1-3 months. We also offer a speedy delivery option of 4 weeks, but buying a kit in a bike shop is by far the quickest way for a customer to get a Swytch kit.
